Precautions: Teratogenic, not for use in pregnancy. lactation. renal or hepatic impairment. severe hyperlipidaemia. hypervitaminosis a. hypersensitivity. use of tetracycline

Indications/Uses: Reduces the activity and size of sebaceous glands in severe acne. dose 0.5mg/kg initially, once daily with meals, to a maximum of 1mk/kg for about 4 weeks.

Interactions: Vitamin a. tetracyclines may increase risk of raised intracranial pressure.

Side Effects: Dryness of skin and mucous membranes. epistasis, hoarseness of voice. may worsen acne at start of use. dryness of eyes may lead to conjuctivitis. gastro-intestinal upsets.
