Indications/Uses: Nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor used in hiv infection, with other agents; 200mg tid or 300mg bd. prevention of infection after needlesticks.

Interactions : May decrease atazanavir therapeutic effect. lopinavir/ritonavir may increase tenofovir plasma levels.

Side Effects : Asthenia,rash,diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting,myalgia,weight loss.
