Precautions : Myasthenia gravis. pregnancy andlactation. renal impairment and in concomitant use with nephrotoxic drugs. hypersensitivity to amino glycosides.

Indications/Uses: Gram negative sepsis resistant to gentamicin; 15mg/kg 8-12hrly im.

Interactions : Warfarin. cytotoxics, frusemide, nephrotoxic drugs (increased risk of nephrotoxicity). antagonises effect of neostigmine and pyridostigmine.

Side Effects : Ototoxicity. renal toxicity. neuromuscular blockade. nausea and vomiting. hypotension.
