Precautions : Pregnancy. severe hepatic dysfunction. caution in diabetes.

Indications/Uses: Protease inhibitor used with other agents in treatment of hiv infection; 600mg tid (hard gelation capsules), 1200mg tds (soft gelatin capsules). should be taken within 2 hrs of a meal.

Interactions : Substrate of cyp3a3/4. inducers eg rifampicin decrease effect while inhibitors eg ketoconazole increase effect of saquinavir

Side Effects : Steven-johnson syndrome. nephrolithiasis. pancreatitis. ulceration of the mucous membrane. depression. peripheral neuropathy. nausea.
